Thumb Sucking

On Sunday, Sophie actually got her thumb in her mouth! Since the day after she was born (I really didn't get to see her the day she was born to know) she would suck on her fist with her thumb clasped tightly under her four fingers. We don't think she meant to do it. But she did it again on Monday and I took a picture of her doing it (see above). I would much rather her suck on her paci than her thumb. My thought was always "You can take away the paci, but not the thumb." The only problem with this is that she doesn't really like her paci. We use her paci for super fussy times. She doesn't use it to fall asleep. Only time will tell if she will be a thumb-sucker.

  1. Awww...so cute, Whitney! Elijah has just taken to sucking his thumb this weekend. I love it because he soothes himself, but if my MIL has anything to do with it, he will keep using the paci. (She keeps telling me you can always take that away - which is true - like you said!) But he's just SO cute with his thumb in his mouth!

  2. Oh the thumb, too cute!! There isnt much you can do except wait and see. Hey... are you carrying her in a sling like position in your wrap?? If so, how does that go for you?? Ive been contemplating.

    Miss you!
